Gospel of John Series - "Fill my Cup, Lord"

“Fill My Cup, Lord” John 2:1-11 I am imagining Jesus speaking these words to his mother, Mary, “Woman, why do you involve me?” Let’s look at the text, “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Mary and Jesus had been invited as well as his four disciples to the wedding in Cana. The betrothal had already happened earlier in the year, and now the wedding nuptials and t...

A Tale of Two Countries

A Tale of Two Countries or Not Learning from History It has been the practice of mankind to continue to make the same mistakes over and over. In the story of 2 Kings 17( 2 Kings 17 NIV - Hoshea Last King of Israel - In the ), there was a nation that God had blessed from its inception. This country started well in obedience, but seem to have a propensity to make mistakes that caused God to discipline them. After a few centuries, they had broken up into two political systems. One rebelled and committed a great sin against God, the other as well had sinned against God but to a lesser degree. God was fed up with the people and their rebellious, hard-heartedness and hard-headedness. He brought judgment against the one who committed the greater sin.  Their leader became a vassal, a greased monkey in the service and indebtedness to another kingdom. And in turn, the whole country was taken by the other kingdom. And the once go...

Gospel of John Series - For He Knew All People

For He Knew All People John 2:12-25 It is an amazing fact, Jesus knows all about each person. Their past, presence, future, heart, mind, birth, death, and etc. Everything!  John and the other disciples probably thought this would be an extraordinary Passover, having Christ, the Messiah, the Lamb of God with them, but they didn’t expect what Jesus did, and they were amazed, so were all who were in the temple courts. Let’s look at the text, “When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and catt...

Gospel of John Series - What or Who AreYou Seeking?

What or Who Are You Seeking? John 1:35-51 People come to hear about Jesus, go to church or read the Bible for many various reasons. I came to church at first with my girlfriend because that was the only way we could date. I didn’t come to seek out Jesus. About fifteen years later, I still wasn’t seeking Jesus, He was seeking me. The disciples as well came with certainty, doubt, even wariness and many didn’t go looking for Jesus, He found them. John in his gospel said the calling all began with John the Baptist’s proclamation, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” Let’s look at the text, “The next day, again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold,   the Lamb of God!” The two disciples he...
