Gospel of John Series - Yet a Time Is Coming and has now come...

“Yet a time is coming and has now come…” Part 1 John 4:3-26   I walk frequently to exercise and to listen and talk with God. Jesus must have walked twenty miles or more from Judea to Sychar. This makes me think about his weariness in flesh yet revived in the Spirit’s leading that day at the well near Sychar. Let’s look at the text, “So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.” It doesn’t say if the trip was done in a day, or two, but still that is a good pace for 5 hours (7am-12:00 noon). The setting of going through Samaria was a divine decision for two reasons. First, the jews disciples would have taken a different route to skirt around Samaria, given their traditional racist hatr...

If I Speak of Heavenly Things - Part 3 John 3:22-36 As John again begins to testify about the disciple’s lives after leaving Jerusalem, he and the other disciples have spent some time following Jesus and those who have not been baptised earlier are now baptised in water along the Jordan or Aenon river, probably by the disciples because John testified that Jesus didn’t baptize anyone by water (Jn.4:2) Let’s look at the text, “ After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. (This was before John was put in prison.)” Application - The scripture tell us that baptism is one of the tw...

If I Speak of Heavenly Things Part 2 John 3:16-21 We have seen in the world throughout the ages, man seeks a kingdom, ultimately to be the king. Jesus came from his kingdom, ultimately to seek and save mankind which was lost. He came as one with authority, yet humbled himself to show that his kingdom was of righteousness and light.  Many in Jesus’ days on Earth sought his presence and power, not to be ruled but in order to rule. Nicodemus was on the ruling religious counsel, yet even he didn’t understand the concept of the kingdom of God. Let’s look at the text that literally encapsulates the entire of the New Testament,   “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not sen...
