We Overcome Hate With Love John 15:18-24,16:1-4 If there is one word that is prevalent in all the world today, it is hate, the act of detesting something to the extent of destroying it. The world has made laws to hate (detest) those who detest their ways. Jesus has taught us to love as God the Father, and as he has loved us. Let’s begin with the first portion of the text, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Jesus is again giving last minute assurance to the disciples before he is betrayed, arrested, and crucified. They have seen the hatred of the Pharisees and Chief Priests towards Jesus, but they haven't really experienced it against themselves.
