Titus Series - What does the Lord ask of Me?

Image
What does the Lord ask of Me? Titus 2:11-15 Paul would have remembered his Old Testament in describing how God expects all true believers in God should act because of their faith. “ He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)  For God has always been compassionate, loving, and merciful which are the traits of His grace for those who obey his word and will through faith. For this is the essence of true godliness. These required traits are evident in the New Testament believers as they walk according to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. With this understanding and insight, Paul now leads Titus and really all believers into how a believer acts in grace and humility. Let’s look at the first portion of the text, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to ...

Titus Series - The Soundness of God’s Doctrine

The Soundness of God’s Doctrine  in the Lives of His People Titus 2:1-10 I have come across a great analogy of a centered-truth that every musician understands, the tuning fork. Even if you are a single instrument player or a great orchestra, each instrument needs to be tuned to the same tuning fork frequency of middle C. If they try to tune to each other’s instrument. They will not be nsync, and there will not be unity and soundness in their playing. The same is true for sound doctrine. All teaching about God, the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or the teachings on salvation, godliness, and sanctification must be tuned to a single source, the Word of God.  With the solid foundation of the Word of God, let's look at the first portion of the text, “You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.”  Paul had spent his life before Christ in the study of God’s word in the Old Testament. He had honed his interpretation skills to a sharp edge under the teac...

Titus Series - The Recurring Spirit of Rebellion

The Recurring Spirit of Rebellion Titus 1:10-16 “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord , he has rejected you...” 1 Sam. 15:23 It seems the spirit of rebellion is still prevalent in all cultures around the world, as it was in the past ages. From the garden through kingships and countries, from the heathen and barbarians to the religious and pious, God requires our obedience to His Word, to His Son, and the Holy Spirit in submission and reverence to holiness and purity. So let’s read the first portion of the text, “For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishone...
