Speaking With A Forked Tongue James 3:9-12 There are contrasts to about everything in the world. And in the nature of contrasts, they are established by their uniqueness and differences in design and purpose. Man’s sin nature reveals the contrast between those that aren’t from God and those who are from God by the words spoken from the heart. Isaiah stated that people twist words like the devil, “ Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (5:20 NIV); “All God's words are tried and true; a shield for those who take refuge in him.” (Prov. 30:5 CEV) James understood the speaking out of both sides of the mouth, because it was being practiced in the world and the church, whether it was sarcasm or sincerity.
