Series in Colossians - The Life of Prayer and A Respectable Witness

The Life of Prayer and A Respectable Witness Colossians 4:2-6 In this blog, I’ll cover two areas, prayer and our witness. There have been volumes of books, articles, and blogs on prayer: on the procedure, the length, and frequency of prayer. And our witness is how we act around others and how it affects our opportunities, our honor, and our respect to God our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ.  In this lesson, Paul's admonition to the church falls into two categories: our personal devotional life and our use of wise behavior in our witness towards non-christians.  So let’s read the first portion of the text. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.   La Vida de Oración y Un Testimonio Respetable Colosenses 4:2-6 En este blog, cubriré dos áreas: la oración y nuestro testimonio. Y orad también por nosotros, para que Dios abra una puerta a nuestro mensaje, para que podamos proclamar el misterio de Cristo, por el cual estoy encadenado. Oren para que pueda proclamarlo claramente, como debo hacerlo”. La devoción a Di...

Colossian 3:18-4:1 In the twenty-first century, the whole concept of family, duty vs. rights, and equity and submission are hotbeds of discussion in today’s culture and society. God never meant it to be that way, but with the evolution of sinfulness and depravity of minds and hearts towards the world and away from God and a Christian worldview, the Scripture is still the stalwart foundation for the propriety of family, relationship, duty, and obedience to God.  So with this stated, let’s look at the first portion of the text.  “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”  Paul though not married, proclaimed wisdom and instruction from God to the Colossian church on the propriety of a christian home. First, ...
